About
Split bills. No drama.
Dutcho is a bill-splitting app for friends, roommates and travel groups — built to make shared money the least stressful part of doing things together.
Sharing costs with people you like should be simple. In practice it's one of the most reliable sources of low-grade friction in a friendship: the dinner someone fronted, the trip that ended in a confusing group chat, the flatmate who always covers the Wi-Fi and never quite gets it back. The amounts are usually small. The awkwardness isn't.
We built Dutcho to take that friction out — to do the maths, keep an honest shared record, and make settling up as fast as UPI already is, so money never becomes the thing that comes between people.
What Dutcho does
- Splits an expense from a sentence. Type it like you'd say it — "1200 dinner with Sam, I paid" — and Dutcho fills in the amount, the people and the split.
- Reads receipts. Snap a bill and it pulls out the total and line items, so you can split by item without typing.
- Keeps clear balances. Groups for trips, flats and regular crews, with an always-up-to-date view of who owes who.
- Simplifies debts. It nets a tangle of small IOUs down to the fewest possible payments.
- Settles over UPI. When it's time to square up, it hands you the UPI details or a scannable QR — the payment is a tap.
- Answers in plain words. Ask "how much does Priya owe me?" and get a straight answer.
What we believe
Fairness beats precision. The goal isn't to account for every paisa — it's for everyone to feel the split was fair. Dutcho makes the fair option the easy one, and doesn't nickel-and-dime your friendships.
Your data is yours. Dutcho is a tool for splitting bills, not a machine for harvesting your contacts. We use the minimum we need to make the app work, we never sell your personal information, and features like finding friends by phone number are built to match only what's necessary — never to expose people. You can read the specifics in our Privacy Policy.
No drama, by design. A shared, neutral record means the numbers aren't anyone's accusation — they're just where things stand. That small shift is what takes the sting out of money between friends.
Built in India, for the way people actually pay
Dutcho is made in India and built around UPI — GPay, PhonePe, Paytm and BHIM — so settling up matches how you already move money. It works just as well for a two-person dinner as for a fifteen-person trip.
